"Id Oumar - Makono [Official Video 2016]" Link: bit.ly/1PAHci0

"After the release of the reggae single “Inmigrante” on the Dadaras Studio website, the London-based Guinean singer Id Oumar started working on what he today presents as Makono, a four track EP with a very distinctive sound and personality. At the heart of it, you will find a coherent work full of poetry and social commentary, delivered by Oumar’s unique, mellow and velvety voice.

To begin we find Makono, an evoking reggae steppers talking precisely about 'makono', a word in Malinke that means feeling a blend of frustration and sadness, emerging from having lost something that you considered secure and precious. Then the powerful Inmigrante, with spanish, malinke and french lyrics, describing his feelings as an African immigrant in Europe. The third song is Zozi, a tribute to an important man in Oumar's life growing up as a kid in the streets of Conakry. Here he remembers and pays tribute to this great man's works and words of wisdom. And finally, we can hear L'Afrique, a profound consideration on African history and situation, challenging religions and belief systems in a provocative self-criticism and an affirmation of African identity.

For these reasons, the Makono EP is one to be listened to carefully for Oumar has poured out his heart and looks to share his deepest thoughts and feelings. This evocative ep is a living record of the struggles we all face as global citizens of a new world."
